Postponed by a year and six weeks = more time to make it epic! (and to be vaccinated)
Let's try this for the last time shall we? Save the date! We’re getting married on August 28th, 2021, still on a small island called Quadra in British Columbia. We still really like you, and want you there with us now more than ever. The plan hasn't changed, it's going to be a weekend-long party, and we've reserved the whole resort for our group. Full steam ahead. For people travelling from Canada, we have clarity on travel so you can go ahead and reserve your trip. For people who want to come from outside Canada, we're obviously waiting for news on the border. When we get that, if you tell us with even one day's notice that you can come, there will be a room, food, and drinks for you.The festivities begin Friday afternoon August 27 with a beach bbq evening. We end on Sunday August 29 with a lazy brunch. The wedding day will be on Saturday until late. Meals and drinks will be looked after by us while you're here, and everyone can stay with us on site at the resort.
It's been a journey to get here, thanks everyone for your patience and optimism. We are really, really excited.
The Location
Tsa Kwa Luten Resort is north of Vancouver on Quadra Island. Quadra is famous for orca sightings.
From Vancouver, the trip is ~5 hrs by car and ferry, and very scenic. We expect many people will make the journey part of a longer road trip.
A quicker option would be a seaplane (epic) to Campbell River: Harbour air flies from downtown Vancouver. Pacific Coastal airlines flies traditional planes with wheels from Vancouver International Airport. After either flight, take a taxi to the ferry and we'll come get you at the Quadra island dock!
Important questions
Do I need to RSVP now? - If you're travelling from within Canada - yes please! If you are travelling from outside Canada we are not expecting you to RSVP unless there's clarity about whether you can enter Canada or not. We have the whole resort, so no stress on booking rooms etc. If you can come and are vaccinated closer to the time we will very gladly welcome you, just get in touch with us.
What do I do with my kids, don’t Lynsey and Thijs hate children? - Harsh. Your children are very welcome for the whole weekend. We do love to party with you though, and have learned that sometimes your children may get in the way of that a little. That’s why we’ll arrange & pay for childcare Saturday afternoon and evening. Friday and Sunday they're welcome to come to everything.
What kind of accommodation is there? - There are rooms in the main lodge, cabins, and even a lighthouse! There is space for everybody!
If I can't come this summer, can I come next year? - For sure! Your trip may include karaoke at our cabin though...
Dear friends and family from all over...
Covid-19 has affected us all, but some of you live in places more badly hit than others. First and foremost, we hope you and your loved ones are all okay and we miss you. Second, we can't wait to see you all when the world opens up again. We'll celebrate as if we've been stuck in our homes for months!
